1987年生まれ。メディアアーティスト。
東京大学大学院学際情報学府博士課程修了。
2015年World Technology Award、2016年Prix Ars Electronica、EUよりSTARTS Prizeを受賞。
Laval Virtual Awardを2017年まで4年連続5回受賞、2019年SXSW Creative Experience ARROW Awards 受賞。
個展として「Image and Matter（マレーシア, 2016）」「質量への憧憬（東京, 2019）」など。
近著として『デジタルネイチャー』、写真集『質量への憧憬』。
イメージと物質、自然と計算機の境界を探求し、表現を追求。
計算機科学・応用物理・メディア芸術の枠を自由に越境し活動している。

Dr Yoichi Ochiai, born in 1987, is a media artist.
He received his Ph.D in Applied Computer Science from the University of Tokyo.
He has received numerous awards, including a World Technology Award in 2015, the Prix Ars Electronica 2016, an Honorary Mention in the EU STARTS Prizes 2016, Laval Virtual Awards in 2014-17 and SXSW Creative Experience ARROW Awards 2019.
His work has been widely exhibited, including in the solo exhibitions "Image and Matter," Kuala Lumpur, 2016, “Sehnsucht Nach Masse,” Tokyo Amana Square.
As his recent books, he wrote "Digital Nature" and "Sehnsucht Nach Masse."
Exploring the boundaries between images and materials, nature and computers, Ochiai pursues the art of expression.
His activities go beyond the borders of computer science, applied physics, and media arts.
