1965年愛知県生まれ。
森美術館副館長兼チーフキュレーター（2003～2019年）。
2020年より森美術館館長に就任予定。
ヘイワード・ギャラリー（ロンドン）国際キュレーターを兼務（2007～2009年）。
第21回シドニー・ビエンナーレ（2018年）アーティステックディレクターを務める。
京都造形芸術大学大学院教授。
