鳥取県生まれ。奈良大学文学部文化財学科卒業。奈良国立博物館学芸課非常勤職員を経て、1992年より宮内庁勤務。1993年に開館し、皇室に代々受け継がれた絵画・書・工芸品などの美術品類を収蔵する宮内庁三の丸尚蔵館において、作品の調査研究、保存事業、展示公開に従事する傍ら、動植綵絵30幅の修理事業に関わる。主な著書に『伊藤若冲作品集』、『伊藤若冲　動植綵絵　全三十幅』、京都国立博物館『京都御所ゆかりの至宝』展図録ほか。宮内庁三の丸尚蔵館主任研究官。

Born in Tottori. Graduated from Nara University, department of study of Cultural Properties. Ota is currently working as a Chief Curator of Sannomaru Shozokan, Imperial Household Agency and devotes herself in researching and preserving artifacts passed on through generations in the Imperial Family, including the restoration of the thirty sets of the Colorful Realm of Living Beings.
