この作品はコロナ禍という世界が未曾有の状況の中、この経験をプラスに転化したく、障害を乗り越えたり、その障害でどうmakeしたりするかのsectionに対する視点を持っている、スケートボードをモティーフにしました。
実際にスケートをしている方々から古着を頂いて、その精神性と身体性で障害を相手にmakeするチャレンジや勇気、解放感を感じてもらいたく彼らから力を借りて木目込みの技法で制作しました。
私の作品の中では強く方向性を合わせ、ベクトルを絞った作品群になります。

江戸時代にルーツを持ち、寺社建築の端材を人形に用いることで生まれた「木目込み」という日本固有のテキスタイル技術を再解釈し、ペインティングの 手法として捉え直して、新しい絵画表現を行っています。
素材として使用する古着や廃材から、元々の持ち主に由来する身体性、時間、生の感覚、その古着が元来備えていたブランドコンセプトを汲み取り、絵画という形態に置き換えます。
呼び覚まされた物語を祈りや願いを込めて語り継ぐことで、伝統工芸特有の文化や価値を現代へとリプレイスしています。

I reinterpret the unique Japanese textile technique o “f Kimekomi,” which has its roots in the Edo period and was created by using scrap wood from temple and shrine buildings for dolls and reinterpret it as a painting technique to create new pictorial expressions.
I take the physicality, time and, sense of life of the original owner and the brand concept that the used clothing originally had, and translate them into the form of paintings.
By retelling the evoked stories with prayers and wishes, I am replacing the culture and values unique to traditional crafts with the present day.

谷敷 謙

1983年東京都生まれ。
2009年杉野服飾大学卒業。個展多数。
2021年「intersection of Unique Clothing Weargouse」 （UNIQLO Tokyo）、「Modern Art Fair」（フランス）、 2022年「Art Busan」（韓国）、「KunstRai Art Amsterdam」 （オランダ）、「Meet Your Art Festival」（恵比寿ガーデンプレイス / 東京）などグループ展やアートフェアに多数参加。
2007年 JFW Japan Creationテキスタイルコンテスト 新人賞、 2018年第25回ユザワヤ創作大賞 グランプリ、 2019年第54回昭和会展東京海上日動賞、 アートオリンピア2019 優秀賞、 2021年神奈川県美術展工芸部門 大賞受賞。
